My Go-To Running, Cycling and Lifestyle Apps

Do you use running apps? Any that are your go-to’s that you use every day?  These are a selection of my favorite apps that I use when I run. 

1. Motigo 

This app allows your friends and family to send you messages of up to 30 seconds while running in a race. The app also syncs to your music and works with other GPS-tracking devices. If a race you are running is not listed, you can request to have it added. The app is free to download and you get five free cheers!

2. Strava 

This is both a great running tracker and a cycling tracker. The app records your speed, distance and time, but it also combines your data with other Strava members. The app will also rank how well you fair against one another on certain routes and if you have beaten any previous times. The app is free to download but if you want more advanced features, it is $5.99 a month.

3. MyFitnessPal

This is my go-to app for logging calories and exercise. The best part is you can search for whatever you are eating and more than likely it is in the MyFitnessPal database which is awesome. So if you go to Trader Joes and select something in the frozen section, just type it into the search engine and it will find it for you. No more guessing calories! And if you use TrainingPeaks, it can upload straight to it.

4. MapMyRun

I use this app when I visit a new city because is great for finding local running routes. You just follow the route on the app’s screen or you can easily load any routes generated by other runners. The downside: It can drain your battery, so be aware if you are going for a long run.
