Ironman Training Week 2

This week, bike mileage was bumped up to 170 miles. Yay! I did most of them on the trainer and the long rides outside. But for some reason I noticed that on Thursday after a high gear trainer ride my legs were sore. This was different and not something I am used to after a workout like that, but maybe that was my body's way of telling me I need a break. So Friday I swam and lifted to prepare myself for the long bike rides this weekend.  Saturday's ride was hot, humid and a very pretty ride. Lots of challenging hills to get me ready for the Louisville bike course. Come Sunday, I developed a cough and felt weak. I do not know what happened between Saturday and Sunday, but that was quite a change. Had to decrease my bike ride mileage but still got it done. I know that putting in that much mileage can decrease your immunity to being sick soI am hoping that this is not a common occurrence.  Ironman training is tiring and tough, but thankfully I have some great recovery tools to help get me through the rough training days. Also seeing my friends becoming Ironman and women make me more determined to get it done.
